How to pair a Bluetooth adapter with 2023 XC60 to play audio from a scanner thru the car audio

My 2013 XC60 pairs with my iPhone just fine. However, when I try to pair an aftermarket Bluetooth transmitter, to the car, I am not able to get audio from my scanner receiver to the car audio system. The car recognizes the Bluetooth transmitter but no audio comes through.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
