2021 XC90 T8 Inscription

Hey all!

A little background:

I'm 36, Firefighter/YouTuber/Entrepreneur and LOVE anything with an engine, and awe no brand allegiance. I've owned cars from many countries and each have their pros and cons. I love all vehicles for what they provide to the driver. I enjoy the engineering, handling, sounds, and feel one gets from these modern marvels. I've never owned a Volvo but always liked the 2016+ XC90, and in a strange turn of events I recently totaled my Lamborghini, found out we are pregnant, took the insurance money and ordered my wife a 2021 XC90 T8 Inscription as a surprise for her baby shower. Life is funny sometimes but I'm just here for the ride! I'm done with supercars for now. I want my daughter to grow up with a strong work ethic and don't want her to be pretentious so I'll wait till she's older to get another fun car. Until then, I want her to grow older and safety is key. She's due in June and I can't wait! I'm more excited than the day I bought my childhood poster car brand (Ferrari) and could careless about any of that at this point in my life.

In my current career as a Firefighter (15+ years) I've seen more vehicle accidents than I can count. I've seen people that lived that should have died, and people that died that should have lived. The common denominator was always the safety factor of the car they were in. It always amazed me and still does to this day. Walking up to a car with heavy damage, massive intrusion, and an occupant with zero complaints. They bought the right car, got lucky, or a little of both.

As for our current cars, I bought her a 2018 Mercedes E300 P3 back in 2018 that she uses as her work commute car. I chose it for the high use of boron steel, pre safe side, and other passive and active safety measures. We looked at the XC90 back then as well and liked it but the interior of the MB won us over. We didn't have the family size to justify the XC90. Fast forward three years, we finally get pregnant and I finally get a chance to surprise her with a car she doesn't know she's getting, the bow, all if it, is something I've ALWAYS wanted to do. I remember my neighbor doing this for his wife as a kid, bow on the car, it was something that stuck with me. To be able to pull it off without her knowing is a feat in of itself. She's a ARNP so she can buy her own car, but I've always wanted to do this, so, it's done!

Why the 2021 XC90:

Safety, safety and more safety. Nobody has died in a current XC90 worldwide. And we recently had a call involving one and there is a woman, a mother, a wife, still here because of it. I can attest 100% she would have perished in anything else. A full loaded concrete truck lost its brakes at the top of an exit ramp, barreled across 6 lanes of highway traffic and ran over this poor woman. She was sitting at the light waiting and had no idea she was being flanked by a concrete truck. She was trapped in a mangled cocoon of steel, with injures, but alive. I've seen entire cars and pickup trucks flattened to the frame in wrecks like this. It's gruesome. The XC90 while heavily damaged, redirected enough of the kinetic energy for human survival. I was sold.

The Spec:
I ordered a Savile Grey on Charcoal 2021 T8 Inscription 6 passenger captain chairs with every available option. The dealer knocked off 9K and I signed on the dotted line. I was given a estimated arrival date of end of March which is perfect. It gives me time to hide the XC at a buddies PPF shop and get it PPF'd, ceramic coated and tint added before the baby shower. The B&W was recently refreshed for 2021 and some other small changes just really make this cabin a nice place to be! I look forward to some road trips in this beast!

As for the Benz, I'll take that car over and use it when I'm transporting our daughter on days she's at work since it' still safer than my Tundra. So in short, safety brought me to Volvo and I'm excited to join the club! If you have any ownership tips I'm all ears! Thanks!
